Contribució del Dr. Oriol de Bolòs a la botànica

Abstract

Ponència en què s’explora la rica diversitat botànica de la península Ibèrica oriental i la seva influència en la nissaga de Bolòs d’Olot, des del segle XVIII. Destaca la professionalització de la botànica per Antoni de Bolòs a l’Institut Botànic de Barcelona, i com el seu fill, Oriol de Bolòs, va heretar i expandir aquesta vocació. Oriol de Bolòs va excel·lir en la fitocenologia i la cartografia vegetal, i va culminar la seva obra amb la monumental Flora dels Països Catalans, publicació que es convertí en un referent internacional. El text subratlla el seu influent mestratge docent i el llegat perdurable de la família en la ciència, malgrat els reptes del seu temps.

[EN] Presentation exploring the rich botanical diversity of the eastern Iberian Peninsula and its influence on the Bolòs line in Olot going back to the 18th century. The discussion highlights the professionalisation of botany driven by Antoni de Bolòs at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona, and how his son, Oriol de Bolòs, inherited and expanded this vocation. Oriol de Bolòs excelled in phytosociology and plant cartography. His masterwork was the monumental Flora dels Països Catalans (Flora of the Catalan-speaking lands), a work that became an internationally acclaimed reference. The text highlights his influential approach to teaching and the family’s enduring legacy in science, despite the challenges of his time.
