Contribució del Dr. Oriol de Bolòs a la ICHN

Abstract

Aquesta ponència traça la història de la Institució Catalana d’Història Natural (ICHN) des de la seva fundació el 1899, i detalla els seus objectius de promoure l’estudi i la conservació del medi natural català. Es descriuen les etapes complexes de la institució, incloent-hi la seva suspensió temporal durant la postguerra, i se subratlla el paper fonamental de la família de Bolòs. Destaca especialment la dedicació d’Oriol de Bolòs, que va ser clau en la reactivació de la ICHN des dels anys 70, com a bibliotecari, impulsor de la Societat Botànica Catalana clandestina, i contribuent essencial per a publicacions com el Llibre blanc de la gestió de la natura als Països Catalans. La ICHN celebrà el seu 125è aniversari el 2024, en gran part gràcies al seu llegat.

[EN] This presentation traces the history of the Catalan Institution of Natural History (ICHN) since its founding in 1899, and details its objectives of promoting the study and conservation of the Catalan natural environment. The complex stages of the Institute are discussed, including its temporary suspension during the post-war period. Special attention is given to the fundamental role of the Bolòs family. Of particular note is the dedication of Oriol de Bolòs, who was key in the reactivation of the ICHN in the 1970s. The presentation discusses his work as a librarian, promoter of the clandestine Catalan Botanical Society, and essential contributor to publications such as the White paper on nature management in the the Catalan Countries. The ICHN celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2024, largely thanks to his legacy.
