Oriol de Bolòs: perfil humà: contribució a la Criptogàmia

Abstract

Ponència en què s’explica que Oriol de Bolòs i Capdevila fou un botànic preeminent amb una dedicació excepcional al seu camp, malgrat a ver patit problemes de salut de petit. Educat sota la influència del seu pare, farmacèutic i conservador de l’Institut Botànic, i de Pius Font i Quer, es va convertir en catedràtic de Botànica als 29 anys. Va destacar pel seu tracte modern amb els col·laboradors i una impressionant ètica de treball en recerca i docència. Més enllà de les plantes vasculars, Bolòs va ser un fervent protector i impulsor de l’estudi de la criptogàmia a Catalunya. Va facilitar la creació de la Societat Catalana de Micologia, va donar suport a investigacions en liquenologia, algologia i briologia, i va assegurar la continuïtat d’aquestes línies de recerca.

[EN] Presentation explaining that Oriol de Bolòs i Capdevila was a preeminent botanist with exceptional dedication to his field, despite having suffered from health problems as a child. Brought up under the influence of his father, a pharmacist and curator of the Botanical Institute, and Pius Font i Quer, he became a professor of Botany at the age of 29. He stood out for his modern approach to collaborators and an impressive work ethic in research and teaching. Beyond vascular plants, Bolòs was a fervent protector and promoter of the study of cryptogamy in Catalonia. He helped create the Catalan Society of Mycology, supported research in lichenology, algology and bryology, and ensured the continuity of these lines of research.
